The Challenge

The flexible packaging industry continually pushes for higher standards in both product performance and sustainability. Metallic soap acid scavengers, such as calcium stearate, often generate hygroscopic byproducts and migrate within the polymer matrix, creating delamination of the metallized layer while low quality magnesium aluminum di-hydrotalcite create gels that can lead to bad optics as well as surface flows affecting the lamination and packaging quality.

The Solution

Kisuma’s DHT™-4, a non-migratory acid scavenger, unlocks new potential for packaging specialists. Recent successful projects showcase this breakthrough technology:

-              The metallized BOPP film developed in collaboration with leading machine manufacturer Brückner and the renowned Dutch printing company IPB showcases the superiority of films containing DHT™-4 from Kisuma. The unique dispersion of this acid scavenger coupled with its non-migratory nature leads to outstanding smooth and robust lamination to the surface of the film.

-              For transparent film, Taghleef, a global leader in film production, prepared BOPP films incorporating DHT™-4 taking advantage of the unique dispersion of this additive. The result was a film with exceptionally low haze and high transparency, attributes crucial for premium food packaging and clear-wrap applications, as well as surfaces uniquely primed for advanced printing and lamination.
